TZM - Official Non-Profit Organization

"As of June 2016, The Zeitgeist Movement has established a US-based 501c3 non-profit organization to help with core administrative tasks"

TZM - Official Non-Profit Organization

In June 2016, The founder of The Zeitgeist Movement, Peter Joseph, established a US-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization to help further the goal of public education in regards to what a Natural Law/Resource Based Economic Model is about, how it works, what the social benefits are, and how to transition from our present socio-economic system to such a model with the least amount of social disruption or inconvenience.

Based in California, and chaired by core members of the Los Angeles Chapter of TZM, this tax exempt entity allows for tax deductible donations.

Allocation of donated funds include: Funding website work, covering administrative and hosting fees; the development and promotion of global event days, such as the Media Festival and Zeitgeist Day; expanding public relations work; along with overall media outreach, including better social networking strategies.

We also seek to create a better communicative infrastructure to help chapters, while ensuring reliable project heads to help guide volunteer actions in large endeavors.

F.A.Q.s about the NPO

Some important clarifications about the Zeitgeist Movement Non Profit Organization

What is the TZM NPO?

This npo is a legal, non-profit 501(c)3 corporate entity obligated by California law and IRS rules.

Is The Zeitgeist Movement an NPO?

No, The Zeitgeist Movement is not an NPO. The NPO is a separate entity with the goal of helping fund needed infrastructure (i.e. websites) or global projects (i.e. ZDay).

What about a video I saw that said “TZM is now an NPO?”

There was a confusing statement made in an introductory video that said, “TZM is now an NPO.”  That was stated incorrectly during the video edit.  Please refer to the following as the official statement: A new NPO has been formed by the Movement’s founder, Peter Joseph, with the specific mission statement to support the advocacy of a NL/RBE economic system, and its education, in the public domain.

Does the NPO work for The Zeitgeist Movement?

While the mission statements & purpose the volunteer chapters and NPO are very similar, the NPO is an independent entity that operates at the discretion of its board members.

Do NPO members receive income?

No. The board members are volunteers, they take no salary.

What is the difference between the NPO and TZM Chapters?

The TZM NPO is an independent legal 501(c)3 entity subject to California law and IRS rules (Internal Revenue Service), whereas all other TZM advocates and supporters participate independently, as volunteers, either entirely self-directed, or through The Movement’s volunteer chapters.

Does this group oversee the entire movement in the sense of a global governance institution?

No, the grassroots and volunteer nature of TZM remains the same just as before. The NPO simply helps to improve aspects of TZM’s most core structural needs and means of public presentation (i.e. websites, communication platforms, etc) that require ongoing costs to maintain.
